Baskets from Around the World In-Person
Baskets are one of the most important early human innovations that allowed them to carry things much more efficiently than they had before. They were made from whatever materials were available in nature and refined over time for strength, durability, ease of production and eventually included artistic expression. Come and see, touch, and learn about Venie Hinson's baskets she has collected from around the world for the past 50 years. Her extensive collection includes baskets from Asia, Europe, Russia, South- Central- and North America, Alaska, India, and Africa. She will explain what materials they are made from and how they are traditionally used.
